The European Green Deal: state of play
The European Green Deal can be seen as a collection of priorities, principles and areas where legislative proposals will be produced in the coming years. While the full scope of the EGD is not yet clear, and many of the policy choices will only be decided upon at a later stage, a number of policy initiatives have already been unveiled or kicked off in recent months.
This session will focus on the recent policy initiatives initiated under the European Green Deal, including the proposal for the Climate Law, the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive, the Carbon Border Adjustment Measure (CBAM) and the 2030 target plan.
It will also be an opportunity for stakeholders to engage in a discussion on the process and timeline of the implementation of the Green Deal, how it might be impacted by the COVID-19 induced crisis, and what role it can play in the post-crisis recovery period.
