State of the European Green Deal – from strategy to delivery

This meeting is part of a continuous series organized by ERCST on the European Green Deal, which started on 8 January 2020 right after the European Commission’s EGD was announced. This work stream aims to bring together policymakers and stakeholders on a regular basis to take stock on recent developments in the EGD framework. In June the European Commission is expected to roll out 12 policy proposals as part of its “Fit for 55 package”.
This session will specially look at:

  • The European Climate Law negotiations: The EU Institutions are still discussing key issues of the European Climate Law, backbone of the EGD, including the emission reduction target for 2030. During this meeting we will analyze the preliminary outcomes of the negotiations and how these can affect the EU long-term climate ambition.
  • Recovery and Resilience Plans: Member States are working together with the Commission to align their plans with a 37 % binding target for climate expenditure. During this meeting we will address the issue of how Recovery and Resilience Plans are shaping up to deliver a sustainable transition.
