The EU ETS in the Commission’s 2030 Climate Target Plan
September 29 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
This meeting is under Chatham House Rules | No press
The EU ETS has long been considered as one of the cornerstones of the EU’s climate policies. While it has been faced by many issues, the ETS has proven to be ‘fit for purpose’ in recent years. Today, the EU ETS stands at the dawn of a new revision cycle, which will have to ensure that it helps delivering on the European Green Deal in an economically efficient way.
This Fall, ERCST will organise a series of meetings to discuss the future of this important policy instrument, starting with a first look at the role of the EU ETS within the 2030 Climate Target Plan, followed by a number of meetings aimed at having a discussion on specific elements and issues related to the EU ETS.
This meeting will follow the initial brainstorm meeting, and will take a first look at the upcoming 2030 Climat Target Plan, to be published by the Commission in September, and what role the EU ETS has in achieving this enhanced ambition, and how it might be affected.
This meeting is intended to take place in person – if you plan to attend in person please register here – the meeting will also be live-streamed, for which you can register here.
Draft agenda will follow soon.
