Stakeholders’ Views on the Public Consultation for the Energy Taxation Directive
This meeting is under Chatham House Rules | No press is invited
As part of the policy updates foreseen under the European Green Deal, the Commission will propose a revision of the Energy Taxation Directive, with the stated main objectives to:
- aligning taxation of energy products and electricity with EU energy and climate policies, to contribute to the EU 2030 energy targets and climate neutrality by 2050;
- preserving the EU single market by updating the scope and the structure of tax rates, and rationalising the use of optional tax exemptions and reductions.
On May 27, ERCST organised a webinar to discuss stakeholders’ views on the submissions to the Inception Impact Assessment for the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive. This meeting intends to bring the discussion forward, by allowing stakeholders to exchange views on the public consultation, which is expected to be published by the Commission over summer.
