Following the CBAM regulation officially entering into force on the 17 May 2023 this event focuses on the international negotiations on an EU-US Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum, exploring a viable path forward for that agreement and the role in that path of the CBAM.

The ERCST launched and presented a paper, followed by a discussion on the options and priorities for a prospective Global Arrangement for Sustainable Steel and Aluminium, including the potential role of, and implications for, the CBAM.

This session, convened by ERCST on the basis of its extensive work on the EU CBAM, brought together global thought leaders on international climate cooperation and CBAM to discuss the trajectory of CBAM implementation and climate and trade related issues.
