In conversation with Khalid Abuleif: Climate change priorities in the G20
During this one-hour conversation, Ambassador Khalid Abuleif, Sustainability Adviser to the Minister of Energy and Chief Negotiator for Climate Agreements, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will shed light on the current priorities for the G20 in the area of climate change under the KSA’s presidency.
After opening statements and an introductory interview, Andrei Marcu and Michael Mehling will moderate a Q&A with participants.
On 1 December 2019, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia assumed the presidency of the G20, the premier global forum for international economic cooperation. This year’s Leader Summit will be held on November 21-22.
Climate change remains one of the priorities of the KSA’s g20 presidency, as shown in the extensive agenda and events associated with it. Indeed, ‘Safeguarding the Planet’ is one of the three central aims of the Saudi G20 Presidency. Recently, Saudi Arabia has been developing and promoting the concept of a “circular carbon economy” and intends to make it a domestic priority as well as a showcase for the G20.
