ERCST’s Executive Director, Andrei Marcu, will be moderating the Deep Dive session Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: A New Era for Global Trade Order, which is part of IETA’s European Climate Summit in Lisbon.

Climate, trade and competitiveness is reaching a fever pitch across the Atlantic. The long-debated CBAM is set to become a reality. This session will look at US’ Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and the European Green Deal Industrial Plan, as well as delve into the details of EU’s CBAM. It will tackle how to protect export industries from potential carbon leakage, look at ways to prevent circumvention risks, compatibility with WTO regulations, and the global community’s response to the world’s first carbon border tax.
