Following the  Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulation entering its transitional phase on the 1 October 2023, this International Town Hall explored the challenges that the implementation of CBAM has faced so far and the upcoming challenges and opportunities for trade partner countries.

The event included two sessions, one that focused on the implications and challenges of the transitional period , moving CBAM from concept to action. The second session focused on trade partner countries and the strategic focus they can consider for the future.

This session, convened by ERCST on the basis of its extensive work on the EU CBAM, brought together global thought leaders on international climate cooperation and CBAM to discuss the trajectory of CBAM implementation in third countries.
