This report discusses the role of sustainable development in the design of cooperative approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and how its role can be strengthened, for example by reflecting on sustainable development experience under CDM and voluntary carbon markets. Lastly, the report provides recommendations on how to enhance sustainable development provisions to safeguard its inclusion in the rules for Article 6.
