Europe’s climate-policy toolkit is extensive, but its effectiveness now hinges on a harder question: can the underlying emissions data be trusted, while also meeting the EU’s push for industrial competitiveness, simplification, and interoperability? E-ledgers is designed to answer both demands at once: a common accounting layer beneath instruments like CBAM and DPP, applying financial-accounting logic so that primary emissions data moves with products and transactions in a form that can be verified once and reused across policy settings.
Co-convened by Andrei Marcu (ERCST) and Prof. Karthik Ramanna (E-ledgers Institute / University of Oxford), the workshop will bring together thought leaders across industry, policy, academia, and thinktanks, for a multi-way exchange on how to make product-level accounting workable. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of ledger-based emissions accounting and lessons from real-world pilots with companies. Through facilitated discussion on the application of E-ledgers in a European policy context, the session will examine practical considerations and how a ledger-based accounting can help advance the EU’s climate and industrial priorities.
