Following the preceding Stakeholder Consultation, ERCST will launch the first edition of the annual “State of the EU CBAM 2026” Report at a pivotal moment — the first year of the mechanism’s definitive phase. The Report provides an independent contribution to the evolving policy debate, supporting the assessment of whether the EU CBAM remains effective and fit to achieve its objectives.
Designed as a yearly benchmark, the Report provides policymakers and stakeholders with a structured overview of the CBAM’s development and performance. It tracks key developments, identifies remaining gaps and potential loopholes, and establishes indicators to assess the mechanism over time. At its core, the Report addresses a fundamental question: how should the success of the EU CBAM be measured?
During the Launch Event, ERCST will present the findings of the first edition and open a discussion on the current state of the instrument, its future direction, and the key challenges that will shape its continued implementation.
