On November 30th, 2022, the Commission proposed a Regulation to establish a voluntary Union-wide certification framework for carbon removals to facilitate the deployment of carbon removals (carbon farming, DACCS/BECCS, and long-lasting products and materials) within the EU. It sets out four criteria – so-called QU.A.L.ITY criteria – and processes to monitor, report and verify these removals.
ERCST submitted feedback on the proposal highlighting the main concerns related to the proposal.
