SUMMARY:Launch of the 2021 State of the EU ETS Report
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis meeting will launch the 2021 State of the EU ETS Report\, produced by ERCST together with the Wegener Center on climate and global change\, Bloomberg New Energy Finance and EcoAct. During the meeting\, the authors will present the Report and their main conclusions\, followed by a high-level roundtable discussion on the future of the EU ETS. This will be the sixth annual addition on the State of the EU ETS Report. \nThe State of the EU ETS Report aims to be an independent contribution to the policy debate\, which is needed to ensure that the EU ETS is “fit for purpose.” This report discusses the current state of play in the EU ETS\, while also identifying a number of issues that will need to be monitored in the coming years. The Report is intended as a “snapshot”\, providing policymakers and stakeholders with an overview of how the EU ETS is doing by April of each year\, based on previous year data. \nThis report made possible through support from the German Ministry for Environment\, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety\, and the French Ministry for the Ecological Transition \n  \nWorkshop Material(s)\nFinal Agenda\nPresentation of the Report \nReport \n\n2021 State of the EU ETS Report (English version)\nRaport o Stanie ETS na 2021 po polsku (Polish version)\nInforme sobre el Estado del RCDE de la Unión Europea – 2021 (Spanish version)\n2021 Relazione sullo Stato dell’ ETS (Italian version)\n2021 Bericht zum Stand des EU-ETS (German version)\n\n\n\nUpcoming Events\nLaunch Event – Carbon Leakage under CBAM and Free AllocationMay 13 @ 10:30 - 12:302026 State of ETS – LaunchMay 20 @ 15:00 - 16:30International Townhall: CBAM in an International ContextJune 23 @ 14:30 - 16:30\n \n  \nPast Events\nLaunch Event – 2026 ETS ReviewApril 23 @ 10:00 - 12:00Stakeholder Consultation: CBAM in an International ContextApril 22 @ 15:00 - 17:002026 Review of EU ETS – Stakeholder meetingApril 1 @ 15:00 - 17:00

SUMMARY:Report Launch: The review of the EU ETS Market Stability Reserve (MSR)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will launch a new report jointly produced by ERCST and BloombergNEF – The review of the MSR.\n \nThe report is intended as a ‘mock’ review of the MSR in which its track-record and potential issues and options for the review are modelled and assessed. This report is the continuation and implementation of ERCST 2019 report ‘Preparing for the Review of the MSR‘ in which the main building blocks of a MSR review were outlined. \nThe paper outlines a set of scenarios for a potential review while showing the implications they would have for the market using a modelling exercise. It aims to promote a debate on what the role of the MSR in the EU climate policy architecture and what the MSR is and is not supposed to do. It ultimately tries to answer the question why the MSR is\, or is not\, fit for purpose in its current design and how it could be improved in the context of the upcoming revision. \nThe webinar will start with a presentation of the report by ERCST\, followed by a discussion \nWorkshop Material(s) \nAgenda  \nPresentation \nReport  \nUpcoming Events\nLaunch Event – Carbon Leakage under CBAM and Free AllocationMay 13 @ 10:30 - 12:302026 State of ETS – LaunchMay 20 @ 15:00 - 16:30International Townhall: CBAM in an International ContextJune 23 @ 14:30 - 16:30 \nPast Events\nLaunch Event – 2026 ETS ReviewApril 23 @ 10:00 - 12:00Stakeholder Consultation: CBAM in an International ContextApril 22 @ 15:00 - 17:002026 Review of EU ETS – Stakeholder meetingApril 1 @ 15:00 - 17:00
