SUMMARY:State of the European Hydrogen Market – Stakeholder consultation
DESCRIPTION:This meeting was a focus session where the project team received the feedback of the stakeholders on a detailed presentation of the draft contents of the 2024 State of the European Hydrogen Market Report.\nThe State of the European Hydrogen Market Report aims to provide a “snapshot” of the development of the European hydrogen economy in 2023 and is a joint effort between the ERCST\, the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies\, and BloombergNEF. \n Draft Agenda

SUMMARY:Launch Event: ETS review of Carbon Leakage Risks for CBAM Export Goods
DESCRIPTION:This event is online only. \nThe CBAM’s transitional period is now underway\, however several issues remain unresolved ahead of the definitive period and numerous delegated and implementing legislations\, along with reviews are due before the end of the transitional period. The ERCST’s CBAM V started off 2024 by revisiting the topic of exports\, this time focusing on the review that is a part of the EU ETS legislation. \nAt this launch event the ERCST will present a paper on the topic of the carbon leakage risk for goods subject to CBAM and produced in the EU for export related to the review under the ETS of 2024.  \nCovered sectors and other stakeholders were invited to obtain current insights on production and market trends\, potential export volumes at risk due to the current absence of a solution for export-related leakage risk and try to better understand the domestic and international implications of export-related leakage. \nAgenda    ERCST Presentation    Recording

SUMMARY:EU ETS: Carbon Dioxide Removals CDRs - Public Event
DESCRIPTION:This is an in person event.  “Important! Online participation is only allowed for attendees located outside Brussels” \nYou are welcome to register through the link below. Registered participants will receive an automatic confirmation email after registration. \n* Registrations are closed. \nThe revised EU ETS Directive was adopted in 2023 and should be applied in 2024. The newly introduced Art 30 states that by 31 July 2026\, the Commission shall report to the European Parliament and the Council how negative emissions resulting from GHG gases removed from the atmosphere could be accounted for and covered by ETS\, accompanied\, where appropriate\, by a legislative proposal and impact assessment. \nThis session was a follow up of the Stakeholder Roundtable on EU ETS and Carbon removals that ERCST hosted in March and discussed the role of negative emissions and carbon removal technologies in the EU ETS\, and\, if they were to be included\, under what constraints. \nAgenda     Recording    ERCST Slides    Hydro Slides      PIK Slides \n

SUMMARY:Navigating Trade-Related Climate Measures
DESCRIPTION:This event is online only. \nRegister here \nGovernments are increasingly contemplating measures such as carbon border adjustments. Such policies can have diverse impact on different countries depending on a country’s specific circumstances and the nature of their exports. \nThe purpose of the Climate-Trade Nexus Assessment (CTNA) project is to explore how trade-based climate measures that aim to address international greenhouse gas (GHG) leakage resulting from domestic climate policy measures in key industries might be designed to account for the legitimate differences that characterize climate policy across various developing country trading partners.   \nFor this event\, we invite stakeholders from different countries to join us in a virtual workshop for the Climate-Trade Nexus project. ERCST has held workshops on the methodologies and their impacts together with our partners in Brazil\, India\, Mexico\, Turkey & South Africa and in this event we will share and discuss the takeaways from the workshop. \n Agenda
