SUMMARY:EU-Turkey Climate Policy Dialogue: Opening Event
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is part of the project EU – Turkey Climate Policy Dialogue for civil societies. The overall objective of the project is to establish a sustained dialogue between Turkish and EU CSOs\, private actors and public institutions on the articulation of Climate Change policy between the EU and Turkey and climate policy development in general. \nDuring this workshop the project team will give an overview of the project\, as well as the objectives and activities that will be undertaken as part of the project. The project team will then present the first results of the research\, highlighting the recent climate policy developments that have taken place in the EU. SUMMARY:Informal Dialogue on Response Measures
DESCRIPTION:The topic of response measures has been part of the UNFCCC discussion over the years\, with Article 4.8 of the Convention being seen as a basis for the addressing their impacts\, together with Articles 2.3 and 3.14 of the Kyoto Protocol.\nThis meeting is part of the “Informal Dialogue on Response Measures” project\, an independent initiative aimed at creating an informal dialogue where the participants can explore\, discover\, explain and understand different points of view related to the topic of response measures.\nDuring the first part of the meeting\, ERCST will give an update on the progress and next steps of the project “Reporting on the Impacts of Response Measures: a Case Study on Ghana”\, jointly implemented with the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana. This stage of the project is focused on quantifying the impacts of international response measures.\nThe second part of the meeting will be an opportunity to take stock and gather impressions on the Fourth Meeting of the KCI (May–June 2021) and on the May–June 2021 Climate Change Conference – Sessions of the Subsidiary Bodies on Matters Relating to the Response Measures Forum. DESCRIPTION:This meeting is part of the project ‘Economic Impacts of an EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on the Turkish economy’ and jointly implemented with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation of Turkey and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).\nThe aim of the stakeholder meeting is to build understanding of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) with stakeholders in Turkey\, and of stakeholder preferences and positions. SUMMARY:EU CBAM Proposal in the Fit for 55 Package
DESCRIPTION:  \nOn March 18\, ERCST presented the Sectoral CBAM Report with a deep dive into the specificities of individual sectors as well as chapter synthetizing the findings to a general CBAM Design. On April 22\, ERCST announced the EU CBAM Proposal. \nDuring this Conference the ERCST will invite global stakeholders in order to engage in the outreach activities.
