SUMMARY:Launch of the 2021 State of the EU ETS Report
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis meeting will launch the 2021 State of the EU ETS Report\, produced by ERCST together with the Wegener Center on climate and global change\, Bloomberg New Energy Finance and EcoAct. During the meeting\, the authors will present the Report and their main conclusions\, followed by a high-level roundtable discussion on the future of the EU ETS. This will be the sixth annual addition on the State of the EU ETS Report. \nThe State of the EU ETS Report aims to be an independent contribution to the policy debate\, which is needed to ensure that the EU ETS is “fit for purpose.” This report discusses the current state of play in the EU ETS\, while also identifying a number of issues that will need to be monitored in the coming years. SUMMARY:Informal Forum on Implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement - April 2021
DESCRIPTION:This meeting is part of the “Implementation of market and non-market provisions in the Paris Agreement” project\, which aims to create an informal atmosphere\, where the main objective is to explore\, discover\, explain and understand different points of view related to the issues in Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. That is\, to understand the options available to define rules\, modalities and procedures on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement\, as well as the consequences of adopting each option.\nSince 2014\, ERCST has been hosting an ‘informal dialogue’ between negotiations\, informed by a few selected expert. SUMMARY:Report Launch: The review of the EU ETS Market Stability Reserve (MSR)
DESCRIPTION:This webinar will launch a new report jointly produced by ERCST and BloombergNEF – The review of the MSR.\n \nThe report is intended as a ‘mock’ review of the MSR in which its track-record and potential issues and options for the review are modelled and assessed. This report is the continuation and implementation of ERCST 2019 report ‘Preparing for the Review of the MSR‘ in which the main building blocks of a MSR review were outlined. \nThe paper outlines a set of scenarios for a potential review while showing the implications they would have for the market using a modelling exercise. It aims to promote a debate on what the role of the MSR in the EU climate policy architecture and what the MSR is and is not supposed to do.
