This year’s Leader Summit will be held on November 21-22.\nClimate change remains one of the priorities of the KSA’s g20 presidency\, as shown in the extensive agenda and events associated with it. SUMMARY:The EU ETS in the Commission's 2030 Climate Target Plan
DESCRIPTION:This meeting is under Chatham House Rules | No press  \n\n\n\n\nThe EU ETS has long been considered one of the cornerstones of the EU’s climate policy. While it has been faced by many issues\, the ETS has increasingly proven to be ‘fit for purpose’ in recent years. Today\, the EU ETS stands at the dawn of a new revision process\, which will have to ensure that it helps delivering on the European Green Deal in an economically efficient way.\nThis Fall\, ERCST will start a series of discussions on the future of this important policy instrument\, starting with a first look at the role of the EU ETS within the 2030 Climate Target Plan. This will be followed by a series of topical sessions throughout 2020 and 2021\, aimed at discussing specific elements and issues related to the EU ETS\, in preparation for the Commission’s proposal due in June 2021 and the subsequent negotiation process.\nThis meeting will follow the initial brainstorm meeting\, and will take a first look at the 2030 Climate Target Plan\, released by the European Commission on September 17\, and what role the EU ETS has in achieving this enhanced ambition\, and how it might be affected.\n\n\n\n\n  \nRegistration Link \n \nWorkshop Material(s)\nAgenda\nThe 2030 Climate Target Plan\nERCST presentation – 2030 climate target plan and EU ETS inception impact assessment\n \nUpcoming Events\nExpert Consultation: State of the EU CBAMOctober 12 @ 15:00 - 17:00Stakeholders Meeting: Free allocation conditionality in the EU ETS – Review of the EU ETSOctober 20 @ 15:00 - 17:00Ledger-Based Carbon Accounting – A Learning Workshop with ERCSTOctober 27 @ 10:00 - 12:00Expert Consultation: Integration of Carbon Removals into the EU ETSOctober 29 @ 10:00 - 11:30State of EU ETS – Kick Off with Advisors Groups and PartnersNovember 3 @ 14:00 - 15:00\n\n \nPast Events\nAccounting and Product Standards in RomeOctober 6 @ 09:30 - 11:30Launch Event: Optimization of CBAM De Minimis ThresholdOctober 1 @ 15:00 - 17:00Launch Event: Review of the EU ETS – Managing the EU ETS for DecarbonizationSeptember 22 @ 15:00 - 17:00
