SUMMARY:Focus Group: EU CBAM Legislative Proposal
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””]This was an invitation-only event.  \nAs the EU moved into the definitive phase of the CBAM\, a major legislative package was released in Q4 2025\, covering the treatment of exports\, the extension of CBAM to downstream sectors\, and the EU’s anti-circumvention strategy. \nThis first report under the Border Carbon Adjustments in the EU – Phase VII workstream provided the ERCST’s timely and comprehensive response to the European Commission’s forthcoming proposal. It offered a detailed analysis and critical reflection on those key design questions\, and offered recommendations. \nThis closed focus group meeting brought together a select group of stakeholders to examine the proposal in depth. Discussion centred on the Commission’s approach to exports\, the planned downstream extension of CBAM\, and the anti-circumvention framework\, exploring the rationale behind these measures\, their expected impacts\, and remaining gaps in addressing identified risks. \nAgenda[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Stakeholder Consultation: CBAM in an International Context
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column conditional_render=”%5B%7B%22value_role%22%3A%22administrator%22%7D%5D” css_params=””][vc_column_text css=”” css_params=””]This was a closed meeting by invitation-only. For information: msangiovanni@ercst.org\, hbevernage@ercst.org. \nThis was an online event. \nAs the EU CBAM entered its definitive phase and is impacting global climate and trade dynamics\, this second report under the Border Carbon Adjustments in the EU – Phase VII workstream examines the subject’s  international implications. It situates the mechanism within a rapidly evolving landscape of third-country responses\, emerging carbon pricing systems\, and growing discussions on interoperability and cooperation. \nThis report will provide an analysis of how the EU framework interacts with international partners and the broader global landscape it is helping to shape. It will examine emerging responses and dynamics\, as well as consider potential avenues for cooperation and engagement. The paper will conclude with reflections and recommendations aimed at supporting the CBAM’s integration in an evolving international context. \nThis closed stakeholder consultation brought together a group of stakeholders to examine the subject  as ERCST continues drafting the report. \nAgenda[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
