Barbara Mariani is a Senior Manager at ERCST with 15 years of experience in climate, energy and environmental policies. Barbara acquired in-depth knowledge of the challenges faced by industry as Senior Adviser and Advocacy Manager for the Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria) in Brussels and, subsequently, as Vice-President in the Energy & Climate practice at FleishmanHillard in Brussels.
Over the past years, Barbara has become an expert of the carbon market, as well as of wider issues regarding the transition towards a decarbonized economy, including competitiveness, technological, economic and financial aspects. She was involved in the various reforms of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and in the negotiations on the Clean Energy Package, the Circular Economy, the Clean Transport and the Sustainable Finance legislative packages. Barbara has strong analytical skills and comprehensive understanding of European politics and policies and can provide strategic advice on challenging technical aspects of legislation.
Before moving to Brussels, Barbara worked for the British Embassy in Rome as Climate, Energy and Environment Adviser where, amongst other, she led a national campaign to raise awareness on the economic impacts of climate change.
